May 2nd or The Day I Learned I Might Have 4 Projects to Direct This Month…

Shit just hit the fan. Hahaha. Seriously though, yesterday I learned that I might have four projects to direct this month.

Earlier this week, Doug Frye brought to our attention that someone was holding a contest for a comedy pilot. Once again, three minutes. Why shouldn’t we enter? It’s three minutes – we can shoot that in one day. So Dave had this idea and he pumped out a script last night. It’s now Saturday, and I have to put together a shot list. No prob. Bring it on! I love this spur of the moment filmmaking stuff. We have a very talented group of people working on this project and I hope that our work will have the chance to be seen by many!

Next up, a pilot starring Charlene Miller and Analine Ignacio. It’s a fun web-series that I’ll be directing the week of May 12th. We also plan to shoot a commercial called, “ANGUS BURGER,” on the 12th before we begin shooting scenes for the web series. That’s going to be a tough week. Details are still being kept under wraps so I’ll have to let you know more about it once we’re done shooting.

The following week, the week of May 19th, I could possibly be directing a TV Pilot for a writer who has been in the business for quite some time. This is going to be a challenging shoot but I look forward to it. I had a sort of “spur of the moment” meeting in the city with her yesterday. I think it went well. She was really cool and open to a lot of my comments, things that confused me about characters, some dialog, etc. I started pitching my ideas and she was very receptive and open to them (I think). So overall, I felt good about the meeting but she did have a few other people (directors I assume) whom she was meeting with. She said she’d give me a call on Monday to let me know what’s going on. We’ll see what happens.

So that’s three projects mentioned. What’s the fourth? Our web-series, ASHER. This project is great. I’m very confident in it. We have some great characters and a cool little storyline so I’m excited to try to bring this to fruition. I love that word… fruition. We may have to push ASHER back to June, but if we do, I really want to make it early June because we have been working on it for a while and I think we need to get the pilot shot already.

Aside from that, I have my feature film script in the works. This one is a horror film. I have around 43 pages done, so we’re getting there. I just need to sit and just get my “vomit draft” done so I can start the REAL script work.

Keep an eye out for these projects. The shoot tomorrow will be on the Internet hopefully by the following Saturday, May 10th, so keep an eye out for it soon!

Oh and I also have another tutorial in an upcoming issue of VIDEOMAKER MAGAZINE so keep an eye out for that as well. You can view my other tutorial article HERE.

I’ll update all you wonderful readers when these things become available! Until then, tell your friends about the blog! Help me get some more readers. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of content coming so stay tuned!

Oh and also, I will be posting behind the scenes video and pictures from upcoming shoots so watch out for that as well.

Oh and I have just seen the Season 3 finale of LOST as well as the beginning of Season 4. I won’t ruin it for anyone but man, is it depressing… I love that show!!! If you don’t watch it, buy all the DVDs from Amazon for $100 and get to it. It’s seriously (in my humble opinion) one of the best pieces of cinema I’ve ever come across.

Until next time!

Peace, love, and little puppies… or something…
